Exploring the countryside in and around Petersham can now be combined with lunching with us, in a calm, relaxed, country atmosphere for an extra day.
With food and traditional values that reflect the place.
Although as usual we been closed for a week for the team to have a Summer holiday, some of us stayed here.
It’s so beautiful here.
It’s even becoming more like an ‘English Summer’ now – it’s getting cooler – it has rained at last, there has been some Summer thunder and lightning – the evenings are fresher and, suddenly, it’s noticeable the dark is arriving earlier.
It’s got that wonderful country feeling after the hay has all been brought in, safely, dry, before the harvest.
Why go further afield?
What a place this is – to visit, to linger in, to explore, to enjoy the walks, beside river, by the beach at the end of River Lane, through woodlands, across the water meadows, past the cows, across the prairies, woodlands, lakes, springs, ancient oak stands of Richmond Park, along ancient footpaths, exploring historic gardens, houses and palaces.
Possible to explore, shaded from the sun, under tree canopies, though tunnels of green, enjoying vast vistas, which suddenly open up.
A restorative place.
A place to sit, dream, think, let time pass gently by.
A place to be active, to ‘do’.
Only a step away – to be able to explore this place and feel alone with nature – knowing urban ‘civilisation’ is only a step back.
