Chang is unusual in combining solo and chamber concerts regularly in the UK and abroad, recently described as ‘a distinguished artiste’, with her work as founder and co-artistic director of Concert Theatre, which is a new style of performance interweaving classical music and drama. It has been awarded various Grants, including from the Arts Council England, Elias Fawcett Foundation and Royal Victoria Hall Foundation and featured by ‘In Tune’ on BBC Radio 3. Michael While from The Telegraph called it ‘strikingly innovative’; while Martin Cullingford from Gramophone described her work as ‘beautiful and poignant’.
This thoughtfully structured and captivating recital had a theme of wildlife running through it and brought together an eclectic mix of feelings, periods and styles, from rare Louis XIV to twentieth century America, each beautifully and confidently brought to life, with finesse, gusto as required and always a very human spirit and insight.
