Born in Romania, Rebeca Omordia graduated from the National Music University in Bucharest in 2006. She was awarded scholarships to study at Birmingham Conservatoire and later at Trinity College of Music in London.
Rebeca is a great advocate of Nigerian classical music. She performed piano works by Nigerian composers at the 2013 Intercultural Music Festival in St Louis, USA and for the African Union’s 50th Anniversary Concert in London.
Rebeca has enjoyed a 5 year collaboration with Julian Lloyd Webber, performing internationally at such venues as the Wigmore Hall, The White Hall Helsinki, the Athenaeum in Bucharest, around the UK in Birmingham, Cheltenham, Highgrove and St James’ Palace, in concert venues in London and on BBC Radio 3 and the Romanian National Radio. She is as at home with Ireland and Ralph Vaughan Williams as she is with Nigerian Classical music.
This Summer Rebeca gave a recital in the ‘Pianists of the World’ series at St Martin in the Fields, ranging from Rachmaninov to Ireland.
